Color Throwdown #86

Welcome to another Color Throwdown! We're up to #86 and this week Barbara is the hostess. She's as much in love with the Origins paper from Basic Grey as I am, so I was really thrilled when she chose these colors to work with this week!

For my card, I decided to use the Plant a Little Love 3 1/4" stamp set from JustRite Stampers, stamping the hydrangea to color with my Copics. I know traditionally you see hydrangeas in pretty pinks and purples, but I have always loved the ones that are such pretty shades of lemon yellow and lime green. Sometimes they're mostly white with just a hint of the yellow and green, and sometimes you see them just saturated in those colors, so that's what I tried to do today. I don't feel that it's quite as realistic-looking as I'd envisioned, but I'm pretty happy with the end result. There is a very special someone in my life who is about 3 weeks overdue for a birthday card, so this is going in the mail ASAP and I know she's going to love it! (Mom.... don't read my blog today!) I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch challenge #67 for the layout, but changed the square to a circle to accomodate my image. (Don't call the challenge police on me, Mercy!)

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge - Spring Bling!

For the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge this week, we're creating cards for Spring with bling! This is one that I know everyone can join in on, so c'mon and join us! We look forward to seeing what everyone creates for the challenge! Remember, every week there is a new and exciting prize being offered and in order to be eligible to win, your card must include a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps store. Whether it is any of our wonderful in-house designs or from the various other stamp companies that ATS carries, the choice is yours. For my card, I chose to use this sweet Swiss Pixie stamp called Bunny Hansel! Isn't he sweet, with his dripping paintbrush, getting ready to color some eggs? I added some bling to this card by glittering the wings, and colored the "paint" on the brush with a Copic Spica glitter pen. Some additional bling shows up in the rhinestones in each corner, the silver cord to tie the button (which has a pearl finish) and even the white ribbon has some shimmer to it. I finished off the card by giving it a good spritz with my Psst! Shimmer Spray from Tsukineko.

Kitchen Sink Monday - Puppy Love

Today marks my last Monday as a Guest Designer for Kitchen Sink Stamps. I've enjoyed getting to return to the Kitchen and be part of the crew again, but today I'll hand in my dish towel! I hope you've enjoyed getting to see my creations this month! My Kitchen Sink Stamps may have gathered some dust since I left the Kitchen back in June, but I'll be sure to get them inky again every now and then.

For my card today, I decided to use the Multi-Step Kittens & Pup set because I needed a card to send to someone with a new puppy! I hope Lori will like my card, welcoming Chloe to her home! I used Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch #62 for my layout.

For my project, I received the Nested Pears set, and decided to make a recipe holder for a friend. I made this recipe called Amaretto Crisp to take to a friends house one evening, and she loved it and has constantly asked me for the recipe. So when I received these pear dies, I thought it'd be fun to come up with a cute way to give her the recipe instead of just emailing her a link.

I cut two pears out with lightweight chipboard, then covered them with Certainly Celery cardstock, and paper from the Nook & Pantry 6x6 pad from Basic Grey. Some accessories, also cut out with Nestabilities and a sentiment from Impression Obsession completes the front of my little card.

There is a large brad at the top, covered by the button bow that allows the card to open on a swivel and reveal the recipe inside! I used an old bank ledger book that I picked up awhile back when my bank was cleaning out their storage to write the recipe on.
Each page is sponged with Tea Dye distress ink. I also used the medium pear-shaped die to cut a template out of another lightweight chipboard coaster and used it as a stencil to sponge a Certainly Celery pear in the center of each recipe page.

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday #7 and Stamp Simply #132

Hello everyone! Let me hear ya' say it.... TGIF! I know, right?

Today I have a two'fer for you.... the i {heart} copics team has a sketch challenge for you for Fabulous Friday, and the Stamp Simply challenge is to create an Easter-themed card! I'm taking it one step further and using a digi image from Chicken Girl Designs for my card today!

I've used Abbey Road paper from My Mind's Eye for my card, and Copic markers all available at i {heart} papers. I cut the sentiment flag out with the Labels 1 Nestabilities, then left it in the dye to airbrush the pink background. My crocheted flower is something I carry at my store... my boss' mom actually made them!

JustRite Mega March Blog Hop!

Hey, welcome to my blog and another stop on Day 3 of the Mega March Blog Hop with JustRite Stampers! If you've arrived here from Holly McMillen's blog (isn't her design work fabulous?) then you're on the right track. If not, you'll want to go back to the beginning (it's not too far!) and start at the JustRite blog because there are some major prizes being awarded along the way! Major prizes, I'm telling you!! First thing I have to mention though is that you have no idea what a big accomplishment these projects were for me to do WITHOUT NESTABILITIES! *gasp* I know... horror, right? Raise your hand if you're the idiot dingbat who left your circle Nesties at work on the night that you have to create with JustRite stamps? Yep, that's me... the only one with her hand in the air! Pretty dumb, right? And it meant a 10 mile drive back to the store if I wanted to get them. It also meant having to change out of my "in-for-the-night" clothes because I would not have made it to the store and back without stopping for gas, too. *sigh* I decided to try to make a go of it with my old Marvy punches. Not quite the same, but I made it work! *pats self on the back*

OK, enough of my stupidity! My first card was made using the Stitched With Love Borders & Centers 2 3/8" set from JustRite. I used the sketch challenge from Splitcoaststampers yesterday, and that fabulous Material Girl paper from Cosmo Cricket! I added some ric-rac and some zig-zag stitching around the edges to keep in with the sewing theme, added some buttons and just had fun with the bright colors and simple design.
I recently got a batch of these clear pillow boxes at the store, and had one laying around so I thought I'd make up a little treat box full of buttons and another stamp from the Stitched With Love Borders & Centers set. Now I have a handy little gift for the next time I need something quick! The paper I used on this is also from the Material Girl mini-deck.
And finally here is a card I made using the Plant a Little Love Borders & Centers 3 1/4" set, and a sentiment from the Seeds of Kindness 1 5/8" Borders & Centers set. I absolutely LOVE the flowers in the Plant a Little Love set! I can't get enough of these pansies, especially! The paper I have used on this card is from a very old pad of Deja Views paper, and I've combined it with Bazzill and Stampin' Up! cardstock, and some gemstones from Zva Creative. The flowers were colored with Copic markers, and I used a recent Sketch for You to Try from Jen delMuro for the layout. I'm so pleased with how this turned out... I hope you like it, too!
